Play Online Poker

There will be times when you play poker and you find yourself having the least chips on the poker table. In these situations, you are referred to as the short stack. In most tournaments, being short stack is having 40 big blinds or even less.

When you play short stack, you really do not have much room to make some plays. Having a short stack means you cannot go for a lot of bluffs, float plays, checks, and raises. Most likely you will not have enough to do your special maneuvers on the table.

Most of your actions will happened during the pre-flop and betting rounds upon flopping the cards. Since you have limited room to play with, you also need to know which hands to play big. As much as possible avoid small pocket pairs and suited connectors since the odds are not in your favor. Go for it when you have get big suited cards which has a good chance of making top pair or anything better.

When you have a short stack, you should put emphasis on playing the big cards which has a good potential to make a top pair or even higher. Remember that you want to get your chips in on the flop. Push the possibilities when you get a hand with an Ace on it since the chances of winning it is higher.

Short stack players will also be inclined to call or go all in since you will be committed to the flop. Or another choice will be to fold. Most actions will happen before and during the flop and you will take less actions post-flop as the short stack player on the table. It is critical which big hands you want to play and make sure that you have a good chance of winning after all the cards are dealt.

Playing poker also means the need to observe people and their behaviour. Everyone around the poker table gives out cues about their personality.  There will be these little gestures which say something about their strengths, doubts, weaknesses, among others.  Some indicate that they have good cards and you should fold and some may give a clue that they will eventually fold their hand.

If you have been playing for a while, you might have actually observed a ton of this poker tells. A good number of top notch poker players write these observations down. Scribble them down and read them again through the years so you will not forget them. Also you can validate your observation when you face the same players again.

Do not be surprised if you observe the poker tells over and over again. Every poker player will have the same mistake over and over again. This is true and you will not only observe it while on a poker table but you can see it every day at work, at the airport, restaurant, etc. Practicing how you read poker tells outside the poker room will sharpen your skills on picking up small behaviour giveaways.

There is not shortcut in developing this skill. It will be best to practice reading behaviors even of people outside the poker room.

Observe how your opponents sit, how much area they want on the poker table, how they react, and what small things do they keep on doing. This is building your poker intelligence and knowing something about your opponent is vital if you want to push all in or back down during a critical poker situation.

vanessa roussoIt’s become a common stereotype that women cannot bluff. This myth itself is the biggest weapon that women have against their mail counterparts. Science has proved that women are can lie better than men as they can use all 3 parts of the brain required to tell a lie more effectively. What better way than to use this skill in poker. Here we are giving out some tips that will help you utilize the skill you already have.

Have you ever taken a polygraph test? The examiner examines your breathing and heart beats rate to understand if you are telling the truth or if you are lying. When you lie you begin to breathe harder. Your heart beat rate increases. You almost begin to panic inside while you try to look composed outside. A person who can defeat a polygraph machine simply remains as calm and composed as nothing is happening. A good way to do that is to believe yourself that your bluff is actually true. Once you yourself believe that you are not lying, there is a very feeble chance that anyone will suspect

Lol I don’t like Mike Matusow that much, but he’s waaay right in this WSOP video — where we see the ever so hateable Sean Sheikhan completely out of line, trying to get Mike a penalty, ending up getting one himself too. Ha! Foiled!

KJosOnline poker and live poker have many differences. Not only do the atmospheres feel completely difference, but your whole strategy towards the game of poker has to change.

Live poker is much easier to tell bluffs, especially in unexperienced players. With online poker, detection of a bluff is nearly impossible due to the inability to read body language. Live poker also affords someone the ability to gloat over their victory on the hand. Online poker has no ability of congratulation, except for online chat.

Live poker is often enjoyed much more enjoyed by a larger base of people due to the amount of human to human interaction. Also, when playing live poker you can enjoy the wonderful atmosphere of the casino, and all the perks that come with it. With online poker, very few perks are offered, even to players who play poker frequently.

Also, with live poker people are much more likely to place a large bet when they believe they can win. With many online poker games, people only feel that they should place bets that are constant and consistent. Online poker often has better odds, especially with poker rooms that are directed to new poker players. Many live games of poker can have players with higher skill levels playing at lower skill level tables, thus creating increased competition and worse odds.

2005 WSOP Final TableYour strategy may be working if you see yourself with the best players of the poker tournament on the final table. The kind of poker can be tougher since the skill set of your opponents will be higher. Most likely you haven’t seen much of them during the tournament so you ought to slow down and observe first how they play their cards.

Players on the final table will be going for the higher pay out rather than build on their stack. Expect players being more careful and each hand tighter than ever before.

During the first few rounds, learn if your opponents are aggressors, tight and willing to wait. Here are some strategies that you can use if you are the chip leader, when you have a short stack, or an average stack.

Chip Leader

It will be less nerve wrecking to find yourself with the tallest stack of chips when you get to the final table. You have to remember though that you still need to play precise excellent poker to win. As the chip leader, you can press on against the medium stacks who will most likely play safe and wait for other opponents to bet it all out and be eliminated. Raise when you think you have a good chance and grab some more chips.

The smaller stacks can be considered vulnerable but dangerous. See if you can play them hard and challenge them with your good hands. They can either push or stay away from trouble and it is up to you how you will handle when they try to steal the blinds. Don’t repop it unnecessarily with Five Deuce hoping to flop a wheel, but do play your King Queen Suited more aggressively, hoping your opponent will lay down his/her Ace Nine.
